Square Dancing is

Fun, Friendship and Fitness set to Music

I learned how to square dance when I was 17 years old in 1976.  I have been calling since 2010 after graduating from Ken Ritucci’s NorCal Caller School.  I took up square dance calling as a way to help fill my time in retirement.  It was something I always wanted to do ever since I took up square dancing as a teen.  But due to school scheduling and then work scheduling it made it very difficult to squeeze in learning to call.  Then came marriage and family into the mix.

It was during my early years of dancing that I met my lovely wife, Linda.  We were both youth dancers, I dance with the Concord Teen Twirlers and she was dancing with the Barnstormers in Fairfield.  We met at Harvest Hoedown.  We have been married now for 39 years.

I now call for three clubs, the Cactus Corners in Livermore, the Grand Squares in Rio Vista, the Calaveras Twirlers in San Andreas.  Between these clubs I have taught over a dozen beginner classes.  I have had the pleasure to call in Nevada, Oregon, Washington, and Hawaii.  I have also called in England, Australia, and New Zealand.  I’ve called at dance parties, barn dances, exhibition dances, fairs, and in parades.

I am a member of CallerLab - International Callers Association, and Square Dance Callers Association of Northern California, (SDCANC).  I’m also ASCAP and BMI licensed.
